Winemaker's Notes
"The 2022 Westberg Red greets with a deep, rich nose of ripe plums, red currant, and boysenberry. On the palate, it offers a fruit-forward entry, with hints of chalky crushed limestone and dried tarragon. Supple tannins provide structure, keeping the wine focused and long on the finish."

94+ Points - Wine Advocate
"Comprising 45% Zinfandel, 40% Tempranillo and 15% Petite Sirah, the 2022 Westberg Red proudly wears its atypical blend of varieties on its sleeve, evoking a Mediterranean mélange of blue fruits, stone fruits, dried herbs and cured meat. The palate is characteristically ripe but also notably taut and strapping, transitioning into a latent, lumbering, intense finish that one can feel unwinding and stretching in real time. A singular, brawny and captivating wine, this will be particularly interesting to follow in the cellar." -ML, 9/19/24
94 Points - Vinous
"The 2022 Westberg Red is surprisingly dark and brooding in this vintage. Blue and purple floral tones waft up, complicated by nuances of crushed stone before giving way to wild blueberries. Juicy to the core, it sweeps across the palate with depths of ripe fruit offset by a pleasantly bitter tinge of licorice and savory spice. The 2022 is generous in every way, leaving a tactile crunch of sweet tannins and a hint of cocoa that adds form through the long and dramatic finish. This deserves patience and cellaring." -EG, Jun/2025
