February 2019 Wine Club Wines

Primary Whites:

Domaine Leduc-Frouin 2016 La Seigneurie Anjou Blanc - This wine expresses the complexity of Chenin Blanc. Nose of soft stone fruit, apricot, quince and lemon tree blossoms with a hint of cinnamon. Ample but dry mouthfeel with fresh fruit and mineral notes with a crispy acidity on the finish.

Steven Kent 2017 Lola White - A blend of 68% Sauvignon Blanc and 32% Semillon harvested from the Ghielmetti Estate Vineyard, this wine looks to the Graves region of southern Bordeaux for inspiration and to the best vintages from Ghielmetti Vineyard for its style. Lime zest, warm ginger, and the subtle perfume of white flowers dominate the nose while the silkiness of Semillon teams wonderfully with the vibrancy of the Sauvignon Blanc in the mouth to create a wine of great freshness, fruit, and length. The overall percentage of Semillon was a bit higher than average in this release; the wine is a little richer in the mouth (compared with 2015 and 2016) because of it. Lola, as always, is a wine to pair with food of all types and one to drink on the younger side.

Primary Reds:

Steele 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon - The 2016 Steele Cabernet Sauvignon has a rich, fruit-forward elegance. A spicy fruit and berry core backed up by soft tannins makes it a nice glass of wine for casual sipping among friends. This classic Cabernet Sauvignon will pair wonderfully with any red meat. Try it with a spice-rubbed rib eye steak or rack of lamb.

Domaine de l'Ameillaud 2016 Cotes du Rhone Villages Cairanne Rhone Blend - Deep colour with purple highlights. Soft fruit on the nose, blackberries, black cherries with hints of jam Also minerality. A very onctuous mouth with a sensation of fullness and sucrosity. Round, soft tannins. One finds liquorice and hints of vanilla. It’s a soft wine, without no agressivity, easy and generous.

Premium Wines:

Delas 2015 Domaine des Grands Chemins Crozes Hermitage - The 2015 Delas Domaine des Grands Chemins Crozes Hermitage offers seductive whiffs of dark cherry, blackberry, and black currants which evolve in the glass to reveal slightly smoky and liquorice notes. On the palate, this Syrah shows tremendous varietal and regional typicity, with dark fruits and smoky meat flavors. The texture is tannic but intense and generous with great potential for laying down.

Hope and Grace 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon - The 2014 Hope & Grace Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon offers intense aromas of cherry fruit, plum, sweet spice, and anise, with hints of rose petal and tobacco. Lush, cherry fruit floods the full-bodied palate, finishing with a velvety richness. Drink 2019 through 2024.
