Product Overview
96 Points - Wine Advocate
"The 2022 The Struie is composed of 79% Barossa Valley and 21% Eden Valley fruit. It is impenetrably dense in the glass and aromatic and rich in the mouth. It's totally concentrated with impressive flavor penetration on the palate. This is an epic wine, as usual, and at $55 AUD, it represents sensational premium Barossa Shiraz drinking. It's all velvet and volume, with detail and varietal definition. It could only come from one place on the planet, as it speaks as much to its red dirt origins as it does to the variety, Shiraz. 15% alcohol, sealed under cork and wax." -EL, 4/4/24
95 Points, "Cellar Selection" - Wine Enthusiast
"A velvety, supple shiraz from both Barossa and Eden Valleys that oozes plum and blackberry jam appeal, with a lick of baking spice behind. It's as luxurious in texture as it is in aroma and flavor, the ripe tannins seamlessly tucked behind all the plush fruit, and a little alcohol heat creeping in and landing on the finish. The comparatively cool 2022 vintage makes for highly age-worthy wines and Struie is no exception. Drink 2025-2037." -CP, 12/1/24
94 Points - Wine Spectator
"Dense and powerful, featuring a concentrated mix of blackberry, huckleberry and blueberry syrup flavors on a velvety frame, with details of Pu'er tea, dark chocolate, singed palo santo, candied walnut, black pepper and toffee that linger. Despite all the concentration, there's a lovely sense of elegance, with an open-knit frame and a long, lingering finish. Shiraz. Drink now through 2037. 6,000 cases made, 600 cases imported." -MW, 12/31/24
92 Points - Vinous
"This fleshy and open knit 2022 The Struie, a blend from the Barossa and Eden Valley, delivers plush upfront aromas of cherry compote and dark earths with a dusting of spice. It then softens a little on the palate with dusty carob flavors supported by grainy tannins. Overall, this 2022 Shiraz feels close to its peak." -AH, Jul/2024
