Product Overview

Winery's Notes
"Those who have enjoyed our organically and biodynamically grown wines over the last decade may recall the lineup once included a Riesling hailing from a coastal Sonoma site. Historically, Riesling and Pinot Noir have shown to be quite compatible neighbors, sharing an affinity for cooler microclimates and well-drained sandy soils. Thus, as Pinot Noir thrives in the cool clime and balanced Goldridge soil of the Estate, Riesling was a natural addition to the unique tapestry of the vineyard. Rarely grown so close to the California coast, this distinctive, biodynamically grown varietal is proudly nurtured from vine to bottle by the team at Radio-Coteau. Hailing from a single acre and with a nod to certain Old World traditions, the 2023 Estate Riesling was once again aged in a neutral 600L Stockinger thick stave demi-muid. Élevage in neutral oak helped round the edges of this versatile white, while maintaining its distinctively crisp, aromatic character.

Racy and dry, the 2023 Estate Riesling is an exciting expression of Sonoma Coast fruit. The lively entry shines with notes of Buddha’s hand citron and key lime zest leading the way, followed closely by beguiling mineral-driven hints of sea spray and flint. A nuanced creaminess glides along the palate, nimbly balanced by an herbaceous touch of fresh sage. Fresh and focused in its youth, the 2023 Estate Riesling is charming at present and will continue to enchant over time in bottle."

"The 2023 Riesling Estate is classy, elegant and polished. Interestingly, Riesling here is as much a wine of place as it is of variety. Citrus confit, marzipan, white flowers and mint all take shape. There’s an unusual touch of mid-palate creaminess, likely the result of full malolactic fermentation." -AG, 1/2025
