November 2019 Wine Club Wines

Primary Whites:

Castell d'Age Anne Marie Brut Nature Reserva Cava A splendid introduction to the house’s style, showing elegance and length deriving from extended lees-aging and fastidious treatment in both vineyard and cellar. On the dry side, with zero dosage, this is a Cava that punches way above its weight. Like all Castell d’Age sparkling wines, it is hand-riddled.

Manzone Giovanni 2016 Langhe Rossese Bianco The Rossese Bianco, cited in ancient books of 17th century, is a indigenous grape coming from Eastern Liguria (Cinqueterre). This grape also spread in the Alba region, Piedmont but it disappeared from both regions because little productive. Manzone Family saved Rossese Bianco from the extinction in an old family vineyard. Manzone Giovanni since 1982 produce an intriguing, age-worthy white with a remarkable structure. After many years of research and bureaucracy with the University of Turin, from 2012 there is a new white DOC appellation in Piedmont: Langhe Rossese Bianco.

Primary Reds:

Domaine de la Beche 2017 Morgon Vieilles Vignes Beaujolais Very old vines (70 to 100 years old!) Of Gamay Noir growing on a soil of blue shales and rotten rocks. A nose of black cherry and fresh raspberry on spicy notes. On the palate a beautiful aromatic complexity, power, fat and matter are at the rendezvous. Surprising balance and greediness, mineral and without heaviness with well-melted tannins.

Borsao 2015 Zarihs - Appearance: Opaque red-black. Crimson-purple rim. Aroma: Powerful impression of blackberries, with a hint of wood smoke and sweet vanilla. The nose begins to open up and develops notes of dark chocolate. Palate: The initial impact is very full bodied, with a plush, soft structure. Flavours of dark berries dominate; wild blackberries and dried plums, with notes of espresso coffee.

Premium White:

Champagne Hugues Godme Sabine Brut Reserve Premier Cru Champagne The Champagne house of Godmé was established in 1930 by Michèle and Bertrand Godmé. Sabine and her brother Hugues divided the 11 hectare estate in equal parts. Today Sabine Godmé and her husband Jean Marie Guillaume represent the 4th generation. All the viticulture here is sustainable and on average 30% of the primary fermentation is done in barrel. The estate is located in the heart of Montagne de Reims, specifically in the Grand Cru village of Verzenay. They also own vineyards in the Grand Cru village Beaumont- sur-Vesle and Verzy as well as the Premier Cru villages of Villers-Marmery and Montbré. These are Champagnes that allow the nuance of the Grand Cru and Premier Cru terroir to really be the focus and are not over manipulated.

Premium Reds:

La Rochelle 2015 El Coro Vineyard Pinot Noir Most vineyard sites in California are too warm to let all of the complex flavors of Pinot Noir develop fully before the sugar levels get too high and throw the wine out of balance. There are only a small number of vineyards that have the ability to exhibit the full potential that make Pinot Noir one of the most coveted grapes on the planet. The El Coro Vineyard is one of those special sites. The El Coro Vineyard is located in one of America's newest wine regions: the Petaluma Gap AVA in southern Sonoma County. The 2015 La Rochelle El Coro Vineyard Pinot Noir boasts an incredible variety of savory and fruit flavors and textures wrapped in a package of perfect balance of bright mouthwatering acidity, soft tannins, and a silky mouthfeel.

Chateau Juvenal 2016 Perseides Chateau Juvenal is clearly one of the top 3 estates in the entire Ventoux appellation. The vineyards are located on the hillsides and plateau near Graveyron. Chateau Juvenal is considered among the best terroirs available in the appellation and has been certified organic since 2012. Juicy and forward black cherry and grapy nose; very primary; Jammy blackberry, wild flowers, pepper and mild garrigue flavors; the wine is fresh and clean with a calcaire edge and loads of ageing potential."
