"The 2008 Verdelho (2020 Bottling) from Cossart Gordon contains 65g/L residual sugar, less than the Blandy’s 2008 Verdelho released in 2019. It is clear deep amber in hue. The nose is quite striking, grabbing you with both hands and bringing dried honey, orange zest, Seville orange marmalade and antique furniture polish, all with fine delineation. The palate is tangy from start to finish, featuring enticing marmalade and desiccated orange peel notes. But what I really admire is the crescendo of spiciness on the finish; the mouth feels "alive" two minutes after this Verdelho has exited, tingling with the wake of pepperiness. Superb. There were 2,000 50cl bottles produced." -NM, Sep/2020

"At 12 years old, this wood-aged Madeira has plenty of fruit to go with lifted acidity. Orange and candied lemon-peel flavors are preserved by the wine's total freshness and spice. Drink now." -RV, 12/31/20

"Bottled in 2020, the newly released 2008 Colheita Verdelho offers up generous aromas of peach, mandarin orange, spices and a complex patina of rancio. Medium to full-bodied and fleshy but incisive, it is off-dry and concludes with a penetrating, nutty finish. This has turned out nicely." -WK, 10/15/20
