Amber, Red, and ESB ales are all known for their caramel red, gold, to burgundy color. They often are influenced with European hops, ESB stands for "extra special bitter," but also is balanced with malt, usually caramel or crystal. These overall have a medium bodied feel and their beauty is in the balance between punchy hops and flavorful thick malt.
