"From one of the best UK vintages in recent history, this BdN is pale gold in color with shades of dark and light on the nose: toasted nuts, flaky pastry crust, pear and cumquat alongside something distinctly English, like a countryside hedgerow; a watery sun peeping out after a cool rain and warming the low slung stone walls bordering wildflower fields, wild herbs in a tangle of brambly berry bushes. With a ping of citrusy acidity to satiate the acid hounds among us, and fine, long-lasting bubbles, this speaks of its place, rather than trying to emulate Champagne." -CP, 2/1/26

"The 2018 Blanc de Noirs is a pure Pinot Noir from the pure chalk soils of Wiston Estate. It is fermented and matured in used oak barrels. The wine then spent five years on lees and is still shy on the nose. Notions of freshly baked apple tart appear only tentatively before broadening into a touch of savory maple syrup, salty chalk and blanched hazelnut. Electric acidity is immediately apparent on the palate, where fine mousse swirls up lovely apple notions and vivid brightness. An undertow of creaminess works with the fine mousse to soften the undeniable freshness, but this says England with an unmistakable, clear and soaring voice. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. Disgorged: March 2024." -AK, Nov/2025
