Product Overview

Appellation Notes
"The wine region of Santa Barbara County is located north of the city of Santa Barbara and includes the Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Maria Valley. A defining feature of the region that makes it ideal for grape growing are the transverse, (east-to-west running) mountain ranges that funnel the marine climate inland. The marine fog and wind have a moderating effect on the vines prolonging the growing season and providing a longer hang time for the fruit."

Winemaker's Notes
"Our first vintage making a true GSM (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre) and we are hooked! This wine is austere but still light on its feet. It retains bright flavors of cherry tootsie pop, fresh fruit and light, fine-grained tannins with an exceptionally long finish."

Varietal Composition: 50% Syrah, 43% Grenache, 7% Mourvèdre
Appellation: Santa Barbara County
Whole Cluster: 80%

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"Very crunchy aromas of currant, cranberry and peppercorn are laced in thyme an bay leaf on the zesty nose of this blend of 50% Syrah, 43% Grenache and 7% Mourvèdre. The palate is sprinkled in all sorts of herbs and spices, from peppercorn to sansho pepper, spicing up the raspberry core. This would pair with both Southeast Asian and Mexican cuisines." -MK, 12/1/24

92 Points - Wine Advocate
"Particularly overperforming in this vintage, the 2021 Syrah/Grenache/Mourvèdre leads with a savory, Syrah-dominated nose accented with bramble and leather-bound aromas. The palate is bright and energetic, leading to a dense but lifted finish framed by sturdy, firm tannins that continue to unfold with time in the glass. This is a blend of 50% Syrah, 42% Grenache and 8% Mourvèdre." -ML, 10/10/24

91 Points - Vinous
"The 2021 GSM (Santa Barbara County) is a fabulous wine at this level. Bright, punchy and super-expressive, the 2021 has so much to offer. Dark red cherry, cedar, tobacco, licorice, dried flowers, mint and sage give the 2021 striking brightness to play off its mid-weight structure." -AG, Jul/2024
