Winery's Notes
"During the last few years we at Reichsrat von Buhl have created our own style in the sparkling wine range and we were able to achieve an inspiring level of quality that sets new standards. In the future it remains our endeavour to constantly improve and develop this niveau. The Grapes for this Riesling were selective handpicked. Only the first 50 % of the pressing - the Cuvée - is used for the sparkling wine and is pressed directly after a short maceration period. Only the best Riesling grapes (100 %) are pressed for this sparkling wine. The fermentation and maturation is partially in stainless steel and partially in double-piece barrels (2,400 litre). Afterwards the traditional bottle fermentation takes place for 5 years on the yeast.
Our classic Brut presents itself on the palate with ripe apple and juicy pear matched with a delicate brioche note on the nose. A lively fresh acidity, elegant melting and minerality emerges."

"The 2020 Brut Riesling spent three years on lees. It is immediately creamy, bready and lifted with the dried citrus peel of Rieslingsekt, alongside hints of sultana and vivid brightness. The palate has the same smooth, rounded autolysis, suggesting fresh sourdough rye with a touch of saltiness that pairs with the citric Riesling fruit. A quintessential Rieslingsekt with proper autolysis and vivid freshness. Dosage is 6 grams per liter." -AK, Jul/2025
Note: This release of the 2020 was disgorged in 2026, AFTER the Vinous review above, hence the discrepancy in bottle aging.
