Winery's Notes
"Dave Phinney got his start in the wine industry in the late 90s, and his first job was at a Napa Valley winery on the harvest nightshift crew, staffed predominantly by Mexican Americans or immigrants from Mexico. After seeing his work ethic and being the only “white guy” on the crew, they gave him a Mexican nickname: Guero, a term of endearment typically used to describe a lighter-skinned person. Through the ensuing years, that original crew has spread out across the Napa Valley but every now and then, Dave will run into an old friend, calling him Guero. Circumstances change; nicknames are forever. Sourced from multiple vineyards across California, including the Our Lady of Guadalupe Vineyard, Guero is a Gamay-based red blend that is best enjoyed with a slight chill."
Winemaker's Notes
"The 2025 Guero Red Wine sits with a pulsating neon fuchsia rim and a slightly opaque core. The opening aromatics abound with Bing cherry, raspberry, rose petal and hints of Herbes de Provence, blueberry, tomato leaf and earth. Tremendously soft on entry, the palate floods with delicious blackberry, bramble bush, cranberry and violets. Bright through the finish, the wine closes with rose hips, crisp black plum and a refreshing beat when slightly chilled." -Dave Phinney
