Product Overview
Winery's Notes
"This vintage marks eleven years of working with the Perlegos Family. Harvested on September 3rd and fermented with native yeasts in a mix of whole cluster and de-stemmed open top fermentations. Aged in a mix of 500L puncheons and neutral casks for 11 months before being bottled with no fining or filtration. The finesse of this wine makes it drinkable now, but will age for years to come."
Vineyard Owner's Notes
"Planted in the 1920’s, Stampede Vineyard is farmed by our family. It is located 25 miles northeast of Lodi in the village of Clements where the valley gives way to the rolling foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. It sits adjacent to the Clements Buckaroos Rodeo Grounds where the country's largest amateur rodeo, The Clements Stampede, takes place each Fall. The vines were planted in a diamond pattern, not a square, which allows soil tillage in multiple (more than 2) directions to eliminate competitive weeds while dry farming. It also provides more soil area per vine for root exploration. The vineyard is a Zinfandel field blend featuring about ten total varieties including Mission, Grenache, Alicante Bouschet, Carignane, Syrah and Tokay."

"The 2023 Zinfandel Stampede Vineyard is a powerful, deep wine. Varietal notes are dialed up to the maximum in this rich, heady red. Small berries in a late-ripening vintage yielded an unusually dense Zinfandel for this vineyard on the eastern edge of Lodi. The 2023 spent 11 months in neutral 500L puncheons, with no racking until bottling." -AG, Jan/2025
