Winery's Notes

Aging: 18 months in neutral French oak

"The 2021 Renegade is a Rhône blend from the estate, aged for 18 months in used French oak with just a touch of American oak. It has a meaty nose with open-knit red fruit and a touch of smoke coming through with time. It’s maybe a little more sauvage than the previous vintage. The palate is quite sweet on the entry. This is a slightly medicinal, cough-candy-tinged Renegade that just needs to muster more complexity on the finish." -NM, Aug/2024
88 Points - Wine Spectator
"A silky, well-knit red, with light tannins and a light- to medium-bodied frame for notes of pureed raspberry, milled pepper, sage and smoke. Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. Drink now. 9,090 cases made, 9,090 cases imported." -AN, 12/31/24
88 Points - Wine Advocate
"The 2021 Renegade, a blend of 58% Shiraz, 22% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre, offers a profile of red fruits with dusty, softly smoky characteristics and subdued aromas. It reveals slightly ashy fruit tones on the palate, complemented by spices and pink peppercorns, culminating in a quick finish. This wine, while flavorful, presents a more clipped and concise experience. 26,000 bottles were filled." -AM, 5/9/24
