High Coast Hav from Sweden is a spicy and fruity single malt. It has a delicate smokiness throughout, made with 25% peated whisky and 75% unpeated. Part of High Coast's Origins series, Hav explores the effects of different types of oak on new make spirit and has been matured in a combination of small, 40-litre virgin American oak, Hungarian oak and Swedish oak casks for at least three months, before spending a further six years in first-fill bourbon barrels. With the soft aromas of delicate peat smoke and warm spices and caramel, the palate offers notes of pepper, ginger, star anise, and red chili. Nicely balanced by smoky bacon and summery fruits.
