Product Overview
This comes from two parcels of old sélection massale vines formerly classed as AOC St Joseph but reclassified as VdP (or IGP) in 2018 under the rules restricting the total surface of the appellation. In addition, Gamine comes from young vines in Villa's other parcels. The wine is aged entirely in large oak uprights.
This is a bold, full throttle Syrah is not atypical of the region. Aromas of dense black fruit, blueberry, black pepper, and spice, scream from the glass. Jean-Pierre's winemaking approach is reminiscent of California's most popular wines. Juicy in profile with notes of vanilla and clove are accompanied with a slight jam character. Pairing suggestion: Barbecue

"Bright ruby. Displays spice-tinged red and dark berries on the fragrant nose, along with a hint of olive. Juicy and energetic in the mouth, offering gently sweet cherry and mulberry flavors with a zesty snap of cracked pepper. Finishes on a subtle floral note, with discreet tannins and very good length." -JR, Dec/2022
