Product Overview
Mithuna is the second whisky in Paul John’s Zodiac series. Mithuna is the Indian equivalent of Gemini. The whisky is distilled from Indian six-row barley (not the usual two-row) and carries no age statement, though the distillery says it is at least five years old. It is unusually matured in virgin American oak and finished in ex-bourbon casks before bottling at a racy 58% abv. Paul John's whiskies are known for being intense and Mithuna is no exception. Fresh cereal malt and an aged gunpowder note with cherries hits your nose. There is a gentle wine aroma that seemingly comes from nowhere that mellows some of the wood-forward heaviness. The palate releases a slight citrusy sweetness that fades into the more traditional caramel notes. The finish is long-rich with the Pedro Ximenex sherry, roasted nuts, and more of the expected wine character coming through. A super interesting, complex, and must try offering.
Unpeated and non-chill filtered. Aged in American virgin oak casks and finished in ex-bourbon casks.
