Aglianico
Aglianico is one of Italy’s oldest grapes, thought to have Greek origins brought to southern Italy by ancient settlers. It thrives in volcanic soils of Campania and Basilicata, where it produces the powerful, long-lived wines of Taurasi and Aglianico del Vulture. Often called the “Barolo of the South,” it shows black fruit, leather, and smoky minerality.
Pairings: Braised lamb shanks or aged pecorino.
