Winery's Notes
"A “wonderful nightmare,” how Hemingway described Spain’s Running of the Bulls, is the ultimate oxymoron: Tempranillo, grown in The Rocks District, is just that. It’s a challenge to grow here as frost can quickly cause this heat-loving grape to shut down. But when it works, it’s beautiful.
Equal parts pleasurable and provocative, the Wonderful Nightmare has a perspective and is excited to share it. A complex nose of graphite, acacia blossom and crushed cardamom leads into a light and airy texture – a wine that is eminently drinkable and that builds anticipation for the next sip. This is as exciting as American Tempranillo gets."

"The 2021 Tempranillo Wonderful Nightmare entices with a stony funk and savory herbal tinge that gives way to spicy red fruits and hints of tangerine. It's soft and round, with vivid blackberries complemented by hints of sour orange and rosy inner florals. This finishes remarkably fresh and clean yet still quite long, leaving just a subtle tug of fine tannin." -EG, Oct/2023
