Winery's Notes
"Sourced from the same rocky Rhyolite filled soils, surrounded by majestic one hundred year-old Pepperwood Trees, that we use for our Sonoma Coast bottling. This vineyard source is one of the most dramatic Chardonnay plantings we have seen on the California Coast. Primarily from the Montrachet Selection and Clone 548 from the rockiest and highest plantings on this vineyard, this wine is insane! Chalky with intense salinity, vibrant green hue and electric acidity, this is the opposite of the Sonoma Coast bottling, this is all tension and verve and electricity.
Electric Lime zest, salt water taffy, wet marble, white flowers and powerful peach skin aromas waft from the green glowing color of this neon elixir. Plug into a bottle of this dynamic Chardonnay that we are completely enamored with. This Chardonnay will stand shoulder to shoulder against your favorite chardonnays from around the globe."

"The 2022 Chardonnay Rhyolite (named after the volcanic rhyolitic soils where these vines are grown) was fermented and matured for 11 months in 50% French oak and stainless steel. It opens with touches of flint that give way to yellow apples, peach pit and floral aromas. The palate is more open at this early stage, offering concentrated, peachy fruit and honeyed undertones. It has a satiny texture, vibrant acidity and a long, layered finish. It will benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar." -EB, 10/10/24
