Winery's Notes
"In 2023, we were thrilled to return to Metate Hill Vineyard - the site was badly frost damaged in 2022. The vineyard is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, nestled between Carmen Peak and Bear Mountain, near Angels Camp. Owned by the Stange family, who over the last several decades have imported several varieties from Spain (Albariño, Godello, Treixadura, Tempranillo, and Garnacha) - planted under the oversight of viticulturist Stephen Collum. The 2023 vintage has aromas of fresh lemon peel, chalk, white flowers, and pear. On the palate the nervy lemon zest flavors of the Albariño are balanced by the weight and waxiness of the Godello and Treixadura, which add a creamy texture and a lingering, dry finish, with notes of ginger and jasmine flower."
