Winery's Notes
"The Gryphon is six years in the making. It is the first glimpse of Louis M. Martini’s evolution; a return to the classic Napa Cabernet of the 1960s and 1970s, with varietal character, energy and liveliness. A wine that has been designed for the table.
Sourced from premier vineyards across Napa Valley and made in the same small lot production facility used for Lot No. 1, The Gryphon is a distinct and distinguished perspective on Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, past and present.
The Gryphon Cabernet Sauvignon is a testament to our dedication to quality and craftsmanship. Boysenberry and blackberry open the glass, brightened by a lift of dried mint and fennel and a delicate floral whisper of jasmine. A core of cool mineral and a touch of cocoa from fresh oak add depth and intrigue.
Medium-bodied and plush, with fine-grained tannins and a lively backbone of acidity, this wine feels grounded yet graceful — perfect with roasted meats, herb-forward dishes, or simply enjoyed by the glass as the sun sets. Decant or let breathe 20 minutes to unveil its evolving layers."

"The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon The Gryphon is aromatic and punchy, both of which make it quite appealing in the early going. Blackberry, cloves, licorice and espresso build nicely in the glass. This deceptively medium-bodied wine has a lot to offer. Dollops of Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Merlot round out the blend. Give the tannins a year or two to soften." -AG, Nov/2025
