Winery's Notes
"Barolo Mosconi is obtained with the 100% vinification of the oldest vineyard belonging to the property of the same name located in Monforte d'Alba. The soil is typically Helvetian of older formation. These are clayey calcareous marls with a color that tends slightly towards grey, which alternate with siliceous sandstones. In some areas the presence of calcium carbonate and iron gives a warmer chromatic note and a slight tendency towards pink. These soils, located at an altitude of approximately 400m above sea level, give great structure and typical characteristics to long-aged Barolo. The color is intense brown red; the aroma is generally very open with floral hints, ripe fruit, and some spicy notes. In the mouth you can feel the majestic structure of a firm, dry and velvety wine."
Varietal Composition: 100% Nebbiolo (Michet & Lampia)

98 Points - Wine Advocate
"With fruit from Monforte d'Alba, the E. Pira e Figli - Chiara Boschis 2019 Barolo Mosconi is the most powerful of the three wines presented here. We tasted it last. Bottled on the full August moon, the wine is impeccably balanced and bright with dark fruit, black cherry, spice and pencil shaving. The tannic structure of the wine is impressive, and you can count on Mosconi for long aging potential." -ML, 8/24/23
