Emmanuelle Verset represents the sixth generation of her family in Cornas and is one of the few women running a domaine there, building on a legacy that nearly disappeared as growers abandoned the region after disease, war, and low grape prices made the work unsustainable. Her great-uncle Noël was among the rare vignerons who stayed, farming for decades and blending his lieux-dits into a single wine that helped preserve Cornas’s reputation and later became highly collectible. After Noël passed on his vineyards to those close to him, parts eventually reached Emmanuelle through her father Alain, and in 2016 the two established Domaine A & E Verset. Today she honors the family’s style while modernizing where needed, farming organically, adapting vineyard practices to the climate, and improving the cellar, yet still making Cornas with whole clusters, no new oak, and blended sites, alongside small amounts of Syrah, Viognier, and Saint-Péray that complete the domaine’s range and connect her work to past and future.
