Product Overview
The 2018 Les Epenots from Domaine A&C Parent is a powerful yet finely structured Pinot Noir that speaks to both the pedigree of the site and the precision of the winemaking. This wine captures the signature character of Les Epenots—Pommard’s most refined and arguably most complete Premier Cru—with a balance of density, elegance, and aromatic complexity.
In the warm 2018 vintage, this wine expresses generous ripeness without losing its poise. The nose is deeply perfumed, unfolding with layers of wild berries, violets, forest floor, and crushed stone. There’s a palpable sense of minerality and lift—enhanced by the use of whole clusters—that offsets the richness of the fruit and adds dimension.
On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied with polished tannins and a sappy, almost chewy core of red fruit and spice. It’s more structured than many 2018 Pommard Burgundies, with a firm spine and lingering, savory finish. This is not a showy wine, but a cerebral one—built for aging, and for those who appreciate subtlety and place.
This is a serious and age-worthy expression of Pommard Premier Cru—more elegant and nuanced than the appellation's rustic reputation might suggest. Les Epenots in Parent’s hands walks the line between power and finesse, delivering a wine that will reward patience and evolve beautifully over the next two decades.

"The 2018 Pommard Les Epenots 1er Cru is a blend of Grand and Petit Epenots, including 45% whole-cluster fruit and matured in 45% new French oak. It has a very perfumed bouquet of raspberry, wild strawberry, crushed stone and undergrowth aromas that gain intensity with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins framing the sappy red fruit. There is good density here, more so than in Parent’s other Premier Crus. A little chewy toward the finish, suggesting that this will be a long-term Pommard. Patience required." -NM, Nov/2019
