Product Overview
96 Points, "Cellar Selection" - Wine Enthusiast
"Prominent veins of crushed granite and tar shadow rich, decadent flavors of black-currant jam and licorice in this 100% Syrah sourced from three different sites within Hermitage (including the estate's flagship Les Bessards). While tannins are ripe, it's a charry, piquantly spiced wine in youth that finishes on peppery hits of clove, dark chocolate and espresso shavings. It's best to wait till 2023 to open but the wine should improve through 2035 at least." -ALI, 5/1/21
94 Points - Wine Spectator
"Ripe, fresh, bright and pure, with a racy-edged mix of plum sauce, cherry preserves and blackberry paste flavors underscored with mouthwatering anise, apple wood and sweet tobacco notes. The long finish flows nicely, and this flirts with approachable already, but there's no rush. Drink now through 2034. 2,083 cases made, 175 cases imported." -JM, 2/28/22

"Saturated violet color. Expansive, mineral-tinged aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, incense, violet, olive and black pepper show excellent clarity. Sappy, sweet and energetic on the palate, offering densely packed, spice-laced blueberry, cherry liqueur, floral pastille, allspice and bitter chocolate flavors that expand steadily and turn sweeter through the back half. Displays fine definition and spicy thrust on a youthfully tannic finish that strongly echoes the blue fruit and spice notes. All de-stemmed fruit and aging in a combination of new and used oak." -JR, Dec/2022

"Similar in construction to the 2018, the 2019 Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes features scents of crushed stone, redcurrants, cherries and vanilla up front, then backs those with a creamy, lush, medium to full-bodied palate that lacks the muscle often associated with this appellation. That said, it shows bolder notes of licorice, blackberry and mocha on the long, velvety finish. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes." -JC, 1/20/22
