Product Overview
Winery's Notes:
"Clos Rougeard was born in 1664 on the lands of Chacé, a village established not far from Saumur. Eight generations have succeeded one another at the head of the estate, the last of which is embodied by the Foucault brothers. Since the 1980s, Charly and Nady have adopted a unique philosophy to enhance the terroirs of Saumur and Saumur-Champigny: leave the wine alone so that it can express its own identity. No synthetic products are added to the vine, gentle vinifications are thought of as infusions and the minimalist approach is claimed.
Nestled in the heart of the village of Chacé, this plot of very old vines, rests on a predominantly limestone terroir, typical of the Saumur-Champigny appellation, on shallow clayey silts. This wine reveals a ripe and fleshy fruit, and a dense and shouldered texture."
