Importer's Notes
"Château Haut-La Péreyre produced its first vintage in 1881 in the lieu-dit of Péreyre, back up in the pastoral hills of Entre-Deux-Mers. It sold its wine in bulk to négociants over the years until Olivier Cailleux’s parents began estate bottling in 1974. Olivier is the sixth generation to manage the family’s affairs.
Olivier farms 126 acres of grapes at Château Haut-La Péreyre, and he reserves 12 acres of his finest sites for Cuvée Meste-Jean.
A deliciously tempered Bordeaux with a decidedly classic prole. Rich, savory, focused and structured. Great price/quality ratio. Meste-Jean, or Master John, is the name of the land where Olivier Cailleux’s great grandfather farmed grapes."

"The 2022 Meste-Jean is outstanding stuff and well worth seeking out, as well as a good value. Based on 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Petit Verdot, it has juicy darker cherry and berry fruit, some leafy herb nuances, medium body, and just a charming, forward, delicious style perfect for drinking through 2032." -JD, Feb/2025
