Product Overview

Importer's Notes
"Beeslaar Wines is a small family-run business, specializing in the production of handcrafted, high-end Pinotage wines, originating from a single-vineyard site in the heart of the Cape Winelands.

Winemaker and owner Abrie Beeslaar is very skilled with Pinotage, having worked at the iconic Kanonkop Estate – famous for its production of world-class Pinotage, for over 20 years. After being offered the opportunity to work with Pinotage grapes from a unique parcel of land in the Simonsberg region just outside Stellenbosch, Abrie established Beeslaar Wines in 2011. His aim is to produce wines that embody and personify the many beautiful characteristics of a grape variety that was born and bred in South African soils.

Beeslaar Pinotage is recognized as one of the finest interpretations of this complex grape, known for its structure, freshness, complexity, and elegance."

Winemaker's Notes
"Vibrant crimson-red hue, with aromatic hints of cranberry, raspberry, crème de cassis, and macerated cherries, complemented by subtle undertones of oak spice, tobacco leaf, and Fynbos shrub. The palate is opulent, decadent, with a framework of succulent plum and black cherry flavours enhanced by French oak, fragrant spices, and a rustic herbal hint.
The wine presents a variety of flavours, including rich chocolate, wild berries, and exotic spices, all complemented by a subtle and harmonious oak influence that lingers on the finish. A wine that possesses the ability to age, exhibits complexity, and exudes elegance."

Varietal Composition: 100% Pinotage
Appellation: WO Stellenbosch
Aging: 20 months in French oak barrels, 50% new
Winemaker: Abrie Beeslaar

91 Points - Vinous
"The 2022 Pinotage, which comes from granite soils and aged for 22 months in 50% new oak, has a delightful bouquet of dark cherry, blueberry and just a hint of violet and peony, quite delineated and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with very pliant tannins. It is refreshingly harmonious, certainly one of the more elegant Pinotages in this vintage. It’s a joy to drink." -NM, Aug/2024
