"Purisima Mountain Vineyard Syrah All of our Syrah is now grown on the Purisima Mountain Vineyard in the Ballard Canyon AVA, the first California AVA dedicated to producing world class Syrah. Syrah grown in Ballard Canyon is a great mix of warm climate Syrah fruit and cool climate Syrah elegance and complexity. This all-Vineyard blend encompasses 7 different Syrah blocks on PMV from the bottom of the hillside to the top of the rim of the canyon and is a great representation of Syrah and more specifically Ballard Canyon Syrah.
A very small production vintage for our Syrah, the 2022 PMV Syrah is the smallest bottling of this wine in well over a decade at only 850 cases produced. The wine is spectacular, rich and intense with outstanding balance. Dark fruits of blackberry and plum weave their way through the aromas and flavors of the wine with subtle nuances of dark chocolate, mocha, espresso bean and a hint of black pepper. Full and round in the mouth with beautifully ripened tannins, the 22 PMV Syrah is exceptional now and will continue to drink beautifully for the next 12-15 years.
As the first biodynamically farmed vineyard in Santa Barbara County, we focus on what counts: growing great grapes. We go beyond organic farming by treating the farm as a living organism, avoiding the use of herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, or nitrogen based fertilizer in our vineyards."

"Inky blue fruit, pepper and oil-cured olive notes pour from the glass as the 2022 Syrah Purisima Mountain Vineyard blossoms with air. A wall of imposing tannin crashes into the palate while toasty mocha builds through the plush finish. This will need quite a bit of time to come around, but it will be worth the wait." -BN, Aug/2025
