"Umami, earthy and saline on the nose with old leather, underbrush, wild oregano and thyme, then a pop of tart blackberries. Blackberries turn sweet and ripe and mix with black cherries on the palate, and gleamingly polished tannins lend a silken mouthfeel." -DC, 4/1/25

"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Piaggia opens with a wild bouquet of crushed violets, lavender, orange sorbet and confectionary spice. This is juicy and round in feel with floral-laced wild berry fruits and zesty acidity that keeps the energy high. It leaves a bitter twang of spice and orange while tapering off gently tannic and with a black-tea-like bitterness. While nicely balanced and very interesting, I’d be hard-pressed to call this out as a Brunello in a blind tasting." -EG, Nov/2023
