"An aromatic underpinning of tarry smoke and medicinal herbs serves as a savory counterpoint to ripe flavors of crème de cassis, blackberry preserves, licorice and espresso crema in this rich red. A frame of sculpted tannins and lightly tangy citrus peel acidity are well-knit to the expressive flavor range, resulting in a powerful, harmonious version. Monastrell. Drink now through 2029. 15,000 cases made, 9,000 cases imported." -AN, 7/31/22

"Deep garnet in the glass, this wine has a bouquet of blackberry pie, clove and violet. Flavors of wild berries, dark chocolate, baking spice and violets wrapped in satiny tannins settle onto the palate and evaporate into a floral-scented finish." -MD, 5/1/23

"Produced with Monastrell from old vines, the smoky 2019 Tarima Hill fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak barrels for 15 months. This is quite oaky and has a nose of ripe fruit, fried corn and a barbecue sensation. It is full-bodied and juicy on the palate, with 15.2% alcohol, abundant tannins and an oaky finish. It is less oaky than in the past but still too oaky for my taste. For fans of the style. 100,000 bottles produced." -LG, 4/29/22
