Product Overview
Winemaker's Notes:
"Katherine’s Vineyard, named for Katie Jackson in 1986, consists of ancient soils with fossilized seashells, shale, limestone and sand, with fog swept vines that have endured since the 1970s.
Whole cluster pressed; 65% barrel fermented with malolactic fermentation. 35% stainless steel fermented, no malolactic fermentation. Aged sur lie for 5.5 months in 20% new oak and racked out of barrels for blending and bottling. 85% of this wine is from old vines planted in the 70s.
Fresh fruit and floral aromas dominate the nose and palate; white peach, lemon zest, pear, granny smith apple and citrus blossoms. The oak influence creates a nice mid-palate that balances nicely with the bright acidity that lingers." -Jill Russell

94 Points - Vinous
"The 2021 Chardonnay Katherine's Vineyard is notable. Bright and chiseled, the 2021 bristles with tension. Citrus peel, chamomile, white flowers, mint and tangerine oil are some of the notes that grace this exquisite Santa Maria Chardonnay. Partial aging in steel keeps the flavors bright." -AG, Jul/2023
91 Points - Wine Enthusiast
"Broad aromas of white pear, poached apple and citrus peel draw the nose into this widely popular bottling. There's a yuzu and grapefruit zestiness to the palate, giving an edge to the fleshy pear core." -MK, 7/1/23
90 Points, "Smart Buys" - Wine Spectator
"Remarkably balanced, with details of fresh, crisp apple, citrus and pear that mingle with salted butter pastry and touches of brown sugar on a supple, creamy frame. Reveals a touch of lemongrass on the finish. Drink now. 70,000 cases made." -MW, 7/31/23
