Importer Notes:
"Sandro Fay sustainably farms 15 hectares in the Valtellina region of Lombardy. Their vineyards are placed throughout the terraced hillsides rising up to the Alps. The Nebbiolos of Sandro Fay are most notably differentiated by the effects of altitude and exposure for each of the parcels. The 2,5-hectare Cà Moréi vineyard is located in the Valgella sub-zone at 550 meters, in the commune of Teglio. This dialect name means 'The House of the Morelli', and it identifies the house where Mansueto Morelli lived with his family di lui at the beginning of the twentieth century. His daughter of him Emma married Pietro Fay in 1947. 100% Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) grown on Guyot trellising. The vineyard is situated at 550 m asl in the east part of the municipality of Teglio, south exposure of theValgella, Ca Morei vineyard. The soil is Sandy (70%), silty (20%) with an acid pH. The grapes are picked in the second half of October. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tank; malolactic fermentation and aging for 12 months in 30 Hl oak casks and 500 lt oak barrels."
