Product Overview
94 Points - Wine Spectator
"This exudes an enticing nose of cured tobacco that continues on the graceful palate, layered with sculpted tannins and a finely meshed range of ripe fruit, including crushed red and black currant flavors, plus a hint of blackberry paste and accents of iron, loamy earth, ground coffee and spices. Elegant and accessible overall, despite the concentrated profile and dense frame, though a few years in the cellar should allow this engaging red to shine even brighter. Best from 2026 through 2036. 337 cases made, 200 cases imported." -AN, 6/30/23
90 Points - Wine Advocate
"Even more herbaceous than the 2018, the 2019 Leeu Passant Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon is savory and has a compact frame, dusty red cherry aromas, hints of sweet red bell pepper, notions of wild herbs and a dusty minerality. Medium to full-bodied, the wine compresses on the palate with a food-friendly expression that is slightly more open-knit than the previous vintage, followed by somewhat drying tannins, graphite elements and a rocky essence." -AM, 6/9/22
90 Points - Vinous
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon has a very earthy nose, peppermint and rooibos intertwining with the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and fresh, with a supple opening and fine acidity. I am seeking a little more structure and grip toward the austere finish." -NM, Jul/2021
