"Schlenkerla Helles" is brewed with fine Bavarian aroma hops and lagered in century old caves underneath the historic Schlenkerla brewery and maltings. It is boiled in the same copper kettles and bottom fermented by the same yeast as the historic Schlenkerla Smokebeer. It's subtle smokeiness without using smoke malt makes "Helles Schlenkerla Lager" a unique representative of the classic lager beer style "Bavarian Helles".
However, what makes the cans different is while the bottles are bottled in Germany and imported over, the cans are not. B United, the importer, ships the fermernted beer over what they call tank containers, which are temperature controlled. The beer is then canned in Connecticut and shipped fresh around the country. This results in much faster distribution between brewery and consumer, and ultimately a much fresher and better drinking experience.
