The non-vintage Yalumba 21 Years Old Aged Tawny is one of three wines in the winery's limited-release Aged Fortified Collection. Aged for a minimum average time of 21 years, the deep tawny color has a distinctive yellow-green edge indicating extended wood maturation. The aroma is multi-layered with intense raisined fruits, fruitcake, anise, roasted nuts, and caramelised toffee, all seamlessly wound together. The palate is richly flavored, sweet, round, and luscious, revealing dried fruits and caramelized toffee with a persistent, lingering finish. It is best enjoyed with aged cheddar, exotic nuts, and Belgian chocolate.
It is recommended that you refrigerate this aged tawny after opening to best maintain its freshness.

"Fortified wines have an important place in Yalumba's history. Their three barrel-age Tawnies are beautiful time capsules of a bygone era. The youngest, an average of 21 years old, is the color of an autumn sunset. It's reminiscent of fall on the nose as well: crisp leaves on a forest floor; shriveled apricots still on the tree; a whiff of campfire smoke in the distance; freshly shelled walnuts; and an underlying toffee and burnt sugar character. It coats the mouth lusciously, but its richness is lifted by the alcohol and acidity, and it's begging to be sipped with spiced apple walnut cake." -CP, 4/1/20

"A blend of Barossa tawnies averaging 21 years of age, the NV Aged Tawny 21 Years Old is mostly red varieties, like Grenache and Mataro, but could contain others as well, including whites like Muscadelle. This is sweet and rich, full-bodied and imbued with scents and flavors of golden raisins but balanced by bright notes of orange peel and made complex through the inclusion of walnuts and a touch of rancio.
