The 2021 Sexy Beast is open for business and immediately launches into decadent and luscious blackcurrant jam and dark chocolate aromas but is nicely tempered by a gentle leafiness and toasty oak. It continues in the bold, high-octane style on the palate with significant upfront impact and then dense, dark berry fruit touches with serious power and length. "When I poured this bottle of 2021 Sexy Beast Cabernet Sauvignon, I immediately thought of Prince's song Sexy M.F., which I promptly played while I tasted this wine. I find myself as convinced by the song as I am by the wine—it has fruit appeal and juiciness, rhythm and pace, but it lacks a convincing mid-palate that drives it through the finish. Like the horn section in the song, it has some interest, but not enough to get it over the line." -EL, 4/6/23
