"This is a very young wine still, but it's already showing the strong forest spices that are common from this area along with the underlying black raspberry fruit. The palate is quite dry with charred berry, toasted herb and light tar flavors." -MK, 5/1/24

"From a site planted at 2,500 feet above Los Gatos, the 2022 Pinot Noir Ascona Vineyard was fermented with 100% whole clusters and aged for nine months in barrel. It is initially quite reductive on the nose, requiring a splash decant to reveal aromas of red plums, Bing cherry and lilac sassafras. The texture is lovely, with an explosively red-fruited palate of luscious acidity and fine, powdery tannins carrying the finish. This has great energy and balance but is clearly in need of integration." -ML, 4/18/24

"The 2022 Pinot Noir Ascona Vineyard is just too reduced and stemmy on the nose, which is a shame, considering the palate is bright, cherry-fruited and pretty darn tasty. Still, a sneaky burnt rubber smell is hard to get past and doesn’t blow off with air." -BN, Sep/2024
