Product Overview
Previously known as Genepy de Alpes, Genepy le Chamois is a historic combination of herbs and alcohol dating back to the early 1800s. Taste strong herbal notes balanced by pronounced sweetness, that lands somewhere between absinthe, chartreusse, and candy canes.

5 Great if you enjoy Green Chartreuse
Posted by Tim B. on Apr 8th 2021
I recently came across a cocktail spec that called for Dolin Genepy des Alpes. Unfamiliar with it, I learned that it's very similar to Green Chartreuse, but about half the price. My wife and I really enjoy Green Chartreuse, so I decided to give Genepy des Alpes a try. What we received was Dolin Genepy le Chamois. I don't fault Holiday Wine Cellar—apparently Genepy des Alpes was switched for Genepy le Chamois in 2018. But I thought I would point this out, as your experience may be different if you still have a bottle of Genepy des Alpes stashed away. My wife and I were pleased with the flavor (and with the price). This is a bit sweeter than Green Chartreuse, and lacks some of the punch that comes from Green Chartreuse's 110 proof. The flavor lacks some of the pine notes of Green Chartreuse. I've heard Genepy le Chamois described as closer to Yellow Chartreuse, but I've never tried the yellow variety. In a cocktail, this worked nicely. At half the price of Green Chartreuse, it was worth any slight difference in the flavor. For sipping, you'll notice that this isn't Green Chartreuse. It lacks some of the spice and warmth. This might be just fine for you—maybe even an improvement—but the difference is there. I recommend trying it out for yourself.
