Product Overview
Importer's Notes:
"One of the rarest birds in the Douro, when the Papa Figos (Golden Oriole) arrives in the vineyard it indicates that the grapes have reached their ideal ripeness.
The grapes were sourced from the Douro Superior sub-region from vineyards with northern exposure and at a higher altitude (1,250 feet). After being destemmed and lightly crushed, the grapes are gravity transferred into stainless steel vats, where the alcoholic fermentation process takes place. The wine then undergoes smooth maceration and malolactic fermentation, also in stainless steel tanks, prior to the final blending.
Complex notes of black and red fruit combined with a resin balsamic aroma, cocoa and chocolate. Good body with round tannins, well- integrated acidity and a long, quite elegant finish.
Ideal with meat dishes but is versatile enough to also pair with white meat and roasted fish."
