Buchanan's Red Seal contains some of the rarest casks of Dalwhinnie whisky, as well as a small quantity of specially selected casks. These specially selected casks are double matured, first in refill casks, then in charred casks to increase sweetness and smoothness. The Buchanan Red Seal scotch is their ultra-premium scotch aged 21 years. It is said that it is a recreation of the 1901 version that James Buchanan himself created to celebrate the coronation of King Edward VII, hence, the red seal.
