Product Overview
The 2016 Royal Tokaji 5 Puttonyos Aszú Red Label (known as Blue Label outside the USA) offers a delightful nose of honey and peaches, delicate and graceful on the palate with traces of spice and citrus fruit. Very elegant and refreshing with a crisp, long finish, perfectly balanced. While this amazing dessert wine could be enjoyed at this young stage, it will develop more enjoyment after some years in bottle. Pairs well with fruit-based desserts, some blue cheeses, or just enjoyed on its own.
Hungary's sweet Tokaji wines have been considered one of the world's greatest dessert wines since at least the 17th century. Wines labeled Aszú are made from late harvest, botrytis-affected Furmint and Hárslevelű grapes. 5 Puttonyos indicates the richness and sweetness level of this impressive wine.

"The 2016 Blue Label Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos, which contains 158g/L residual sugar, has an intense nose of dried honey, toffee apple, gingerbread, pumpkin and a touch of ripe canned peaches; I just would like a little more definition and focus. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, lightly spiced and showing a little more cohesion than the aromatics. I love the finish, which offers tangy Seville orange marmalade, quince and just a pinch of sea salt. I would give this a couple of years for the nose to coalesce." -NM, Aug/2020
