The 2019 Montemar Golden Road Grenache Blanc Pét-Nat from Tierra Alta Vineyard Grenache Blanc is organic, vegan and sulphite-free. Only the natural yeast from the vineyards was used to ferment this sparkling wine, and the wine spends time on the skins, so this is "orange wine." Like the French monks in the 1500s, this sparkling wine was made in the Méthode Ancestrale. The lees is not disgorged and allowed to "do its thing" in the bottle for the least human intervention. This method involves bottling wine partway through its primary fermentation to trap CO2 gas in the bottle, creating a gentle, bubbly carbonation.
