Product Overview
The 2018 Los Vascos Cromas Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva is the new name and packaging for their Grande Reserve. The name, Cromas, was inspired by the colors of nature to reflect how this wine expresses the message of the soil it is coming from. Using the same care as their Bordeaux Grand Crus, this Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) winery sources their grapes from older vines in selected plots on the estate. The nose presents scents of fresh strawberry, red cherry, gooseberry and blue flowers. Then subtle notes of bay, tobacco, caramel and graphite emerge. On the palate, the wine is generous with soft yet lively tannins, leading into a long, lingering finish.
Varietal Composition: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah, 5% Carménère
Appellation: Colchagua Valley DO, Chile
Aging: 50% of the wine is aged 12 months in French oak barrels
Winemaker: Maximiliano Correa

"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Cromas Gran Reserva is the first vintage for a wine that is also 10% Syrah and 5% Carménère from Peralillo, Colchagua, and half aged in French barrels. Garnet red with violet flecks. The nose begins with black pepper and black currant, followed by ripe cherry and plum notes, along with a hint of bay leaf. Creamy in the mouth with accomplished, ample and polished tannins that retain their grip, this is a potent red with long-lasting flavor." -JH, May/2021

"Spicy berry and plum aromas are easy to process and easy to like. A fresh and healthy palate has lift to its step, while this tastes of saucy, savory berry fruits that show earthy complexity as this unfolds. A spicy, solid finish confirms quality. Drink through 2023." -MS, 9/1/21
