The 2016 Lealtanza Rioja Crianza begins with a complex and well-balanced bouquet of red raspberry and licorice accompanied by smoky and spicy notes. It is supple and rich on the palate with a meaty texture and lively fruit. Soft, drying tannins and just enough acidity make this wine very food friendly. This wine will pair nicely with game animals, legume, stews, and grilled red meats, or a local specialty: traditional lamb stew.
Varietal Composition: 100% Tempranillo

Aging: 18 months in French oak barrels, plus 3 months in French oak (Allier) cask of 22 HL
90 Points - Vinous
"Deep bright-hued red. Cherry, dark berry, cracked pepper and subtle herb and floral qualities on the fragrant nose. Silky and open-knit, offering juicy blackberry and bitter cherry flavors that spread out steadily with air. Turns sweeter on the persistent finish, which features gentle, even tannins and a very subtle hint of gaminess." -JR, Feb/2019
