Product Overview

The 2017 La Posta Armando Bonarda displays an intense ruby color with bright aromas of fresh red and black raspberries and subtle smoky oak notes. The flavor of freshly-crushed raspberries is echoed on the palate, along with notes of leather, dark chocolate, and a touch sandalwood on the finish. Though quite rich and hedonistic, the seamless structure of this wine makes it a candidate for drinking in its youth or over the next few years.

Varietal Composition: 100% Bonarda
Appellation: Mendoza, Argentina
Aging: 10 months, 70% 2nd-use French oak, 30% stainless steel

91 Points - James Suckling
"Citrus and orange peel, blackberries, tar, vanilla, resin and lot of bark. Full, fruity and chewy on the palate with soft tannins and a fruity finish." Apr/2018

90 Points - Vinous
"Dark red-ruby. Inviting high-pitched aromas of blackberry, dark raspberry, bitter chocolate and violet. Densely packed, fine-grained and sweet; a fresh, firm fruit bomb of a Bonarda with just a bit of the variety's leathery funk leavened by a violet topnote. From vines that are more than 80 years of age. Finishes with sneaky rising length and firm, smooth tannins. A stunning value." -ST, Jul/2018

90 Points, "Best Buy", #59 "Top 100 Best Buy 2019" - Wine Enthusiast
"Grapy blackberry and black plum aromas come with oak spice on the side. While this is round in feel, the palate is packed with fruit flavors, blackberry and cassis in particular. Chocolate and toast notes grace a satisfying finish. Fans of Argentinean wines seeking something other than Malbec will be well served by this." -MS, 2/1/19

    great value

What an incredible value! I just ordered another case. We had it with pizza. It is a versatile wine that is delicious with or without food. It is on the lighter side, like a Pinot Noir but more sensuous.
