The 2019 Flaco Tempranillo is produced from dry-farmed vineyards of granitic sand and limestone clay in the up-and-coming appellation of DO Vinos de Madrid. These vines are tended by hand in diverse micro-climates, allowing for more consistency of ripeness year after year. Low-yielding estate-owned vineyards showcase balance, concentration, and freshness. Flaco has an impressive pedigree, but still manages to be universally enjoyable—and affordable.

"Bright violet. Pungent cherry pit, cassis and licorice scents are sharpened by a peppery nuance. Chewy and focused on the palate, offering bitter cherry and dark berry flavors and a touch of espresso. Dusty tannins frame a long, nervy finish that echoes the cherry note. This is a pretty serious wine for its price category." -JR, Feb/2021
