Almost all Pinot Noir grown in Napa Valley is from vineyards in the Carneros region, but amazingly, this unique Pinot Noir is sourced from a single vineyard (Block House Vineyard) in the heart of Napa Valley, on prime real estate in Yountville.
Elizabeth Rose is one of three brands from the famous Ghost Block Estate family of wines: Ghost Block, Oakville Winery, and Elizabeth Rose. The Pelissa family first purchased 35 acres of prime Napa Valley land for a single gold coin in 1903. Since then, they have built their vineyard holdings to 635 acres in Yountville and Oakville, all of which have been 100% certified organic since 1991.
The 2016 Elizabeth Rose Yountville Pinot Noir is a vibrant, but elegant and feminine wine with a beautiful balance between earth and red fruits. On the palate, it is bursting with ripe strawberry flavor with spicy undertones and mushroom and forest floor qualities that one seeks in the more complex examples of Pinot Noir. This mid-weight wine displays a bright mouthfeel, and is a pure expression of the Pinot Noir grape. A kiss of oak overlays for a smoky finish to frame and outline the wine. This is an astounding value.
