Dog Point is the result of a collaboration between two Cloudy Bay alumni, enologist James Healy and founding viticulturalist Ivan Sutherland, who left Cloudy Bay at the end of 2003. The 2019 Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc is grown on clay soils in Marlborough's Wairau Valley. This soil profile yields a wine with more defined citrus characteristics than the more common gravel soils. The grapes are harvested by hand and whole-cluster pressed, then fermented in stainless steel. The result is a fresh and intensely concentrated New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc with classic aromas of lemon and grapefruit, complimented by elderflowers, with smoky and flinty undertones. A juicy and vibrant palate of pure citrus flavors leaves a lengthy finish with refreshing, balanced acidity. Pairs nice with fresh, simple seafood dishes especially oysters.

"The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc is on the tropical end of the spectrum, with hints of guava, pineapple and nectarine—a real fruit bowl. It's medium-bodied and silky in texture, with a long, flavorful finish." -JC, 3/2019
