The 2017 Dashe Late Harvest Zinfandel is sourced from the Lily Hill Vineyard in northern Dry Creek Valley, the grapes picked right at 40 degrees Brix of sugar. It offers lovely aromas of wild cherry, pomegranate, and floral notes of lavender and violets along with dried cranberry, black raspberry, cocoa, vanilla, and black pepper spice. It is intense on the palate with vibrant red fruit - wild cherry, cranberry, pomegranate - mixed with darker flavors of black currant, plum, and hints of chocolate and vanilla. Necessary acidity makes the wine balanced and sweet, but not at all cloying - an ideal dessert wine.
